2 Cor. 4:3,4

“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” 2 Corinthians 4:3,4

Last week I was driving back home after a visit. Due to weather there was heavy fog all over the area and it was very difficult to see. I can say that this was one of the heaviest fog I have ever seen. I slowed down my vehicle in case anything might pop out on to the road. Suddenly I saw a bird flying low and it seemed like it was lost. It was swaying left and right as it had lost its balance. Then BAM! The bird hit my windshield.

Something similar happened once again couple nights ago. There weren’t any fog but we had rain. I was still driving cautiously following a line of cars in front of me. Once again, suddenly something hit my windshield again. It was a big THUD kind of sound. It didn’t sound like a rock. I didn’t know what hit the care since I didn’t see anything. When I arrived home I got off the car and I saw a bird feather stuck under my windshield wiper. I think it was another bird that got lost and hit my car.

I thought this was really strange. I have seen many birds fly by real close. So close that I thought I would hit them but these birds are masters of aviation. They would always fly by in such a speed that they would always pass by without hitting. These two times it was different. There was fog and rain. It seems that they lost their way and sense of direction as they were trapped in the fog and rain. It may have blinded their vision or whatever sense they used to navigate their way.

I pray that this won’t be our experience. Like the verse above, I pray that our gospel will not be veiled and hidden, but that the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ may shine through that it may guide our way to His salvation.
