Transformation

“One thing you lack: God your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” Mark 10:21

Sebin has this baby picture storybook. In the story, there is a beautifully colored caterpillar hanging on a tree. Each part of the body is colored red, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

A colorless snake comes to the caterpillar with a red apple and says, “Dear caterpillar, I will give you this apple. Will you give me color red?” The caterpillar gives away its color and the snake turns red.

A colorless chick comes to the caterpillar with a yellow banana and says, “Dear caterpillar, I will give you this banana. Will you give me color yellow?” The caterpillar gives away its color and the chick turns yellow.

And so a colorless frog, bird, and penguin come to the caterpillar with a green cucumber, a blue ice cream, and purple grapes in exchange for their colors. The animals turn into their colors and now the caterpillar is colorless. Then the caterpillar turns into a cocoon. Finally the caterpillar turns into a beautifully colored butterfly as the five colored animals are watching!

As simple as the story might be we can still learn something. Jesus asks us to give away what we have. When it comes to following Jesus, He just asks for you only. And when we do so, He will beautifully transform us to be like Him.
